COMPOSITION

(As film coated granules)


DESCRIPTION

AbFen™ is an equine dewormer formulated to treat parasites that can damage a horse’s gastro-intestinal and respiratory tracts of easy-to-measure, easy-to-feed, flavourless, orange coloured, film coated granules.


INDICATIONS

A wide spectrum anthelmintic for control and treatment of 

Roundworm (Parascaris equorum) infections (both adult and migrating larval stages)
At double dosage also safely eliminates encysted small strongyle larvae
Large strongyles (Strongylus edentatus, S. equinus, S. vulgaris)

Encysted early third stage (hyobiotic), latethird stage and fourth stage cyathostome larvae.

Small strongyles

Pinworms (Oxyuris equi),Ascarids (Parascaris equorum)

Arteritis caused by fourth stage larvae of Strongylus vulgaris

Fenbendazole is safe to use with pregnant and nursing mares and foals.


DOSAGE

Control Program

Single Dose Daily for Five (5) Days

  • 7.5mg per kg bodyweight daily for five (5) consecutive days (3.4 mg/lb)
  • One (1) sachet of AbFen™ treats a horse up to 300kg (660lbs.) bodyweight
  • For foals, use half (½) of a sachet


Double Dose Daily for 5 Days

  • 15mg per kg bodyweight daily for five (5) consecutive days (6.8mg/lb)
  • Two (2) sachets of AbFen™ treats a horse up to 300kg (660lb) bodyweight
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take.
  • This treatment eliminates encysted small strongyle larvae

Single Dose for One (1) Day

  • 30mg per kg bodyweight daily (13.6 mg/lb)
  • Four (4) sachets of AbFen™ treats a horse up to 300kg (660lb) bodyweight
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take
  • This treatment eliminates encysted small strongyle.

Double Dose for One (1) Day

  • 60mg per kg bodyweight daily (27.2 mg/lb)
  • Eight (8) sachets of AbFen™ treats a horse up to 300kg (660lb) bodyweight
  • This treatment is not necessary for foals to take.
  • This treatment eliminates migrating stages of large strongyles in a single dose
  • Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your specific needs.



ADMINISTRATION

Simply sprinkle AbFen™ dry onto feed. For fussy eaters mix with molasses or corn syrup then mix with feed, apple or a treat.


OVERDOSAGE

Should an overdose occur, treat symptomatically and supportively.


SIDE EFFECTS

Fenbendazole may cause the release of antigens by the dying parasites. This phenomenon may result in either a local or systemic hypersensitive reaction.


INTERACTIONS OR CONTRAINDICATIONS

There are no known contraindications for the use of fenbendazole in horses.


TOXICITY

Fenbendazole appears to be well tolerated in horses.


WARNINGS

Do not use on horses intended for human consumption.

Keep out of reach of children.

Veterinary use only.


STORAGE

Store in a cool dry atmosphere away from extreme heat.

Store/Transport at 20º to 30ºC (68º to 86ºF)


DISPOSAL

Dispose of unused product and containers in accordance with guidance from your local waste regulation authority. Dangerous to fish and aquatic life, do not contaminate water ways with the product or usedcontainers.
